All too often we make changes and learn life lessons by our mistakes, wrong choices, walking a difficult path, or going through something significant in our life.

However we also have the keen ability to learn while watching others as they maneuver through their own life. Sometimes learning what to do different by their mistakes. While at other times emulating and utilizing that which they did well, as guide posts.

Recently I had just such a lesson taught to me by an amazing man and a true dawlin’ of a friend.

CrumbsNow this dude had no idea that he was teaching me from his mistake of accepting someone’s crumbs when he had been preparing himself and his life for a feast. But as I studied from the outside some of the internal goings on of his relationship with the crumb giver…

I recognized and fully appreciated something within myself…

The more I have come value and honor my own gifts, my beauty, my love, my wisdom, my joy, my talents, and hold each of them in high regard all the while giving and sharing them readily…I no longer draw in or accept into my life that which is less than what I need and deserve.

Now I can not pin point the exact time that this shift occurred. Perhaps in my twenties, when I met and married one of the most extraordinary men and finally, for the first time ever, was ready and able to give and receive over flowing amounts of love. Or in my thirties when I went through a period of expelling out that which no longer served…long held legalistic religious views that were replaced beautifully with a loving guiding relationship with my Creator, friendships that no longer contributed or held purpose, and even coming to terms and releasing the desires for my family to become healed and whole once more.

And just as I sit writing this, I am realizing…

it is actually much more conceivably that it was never just ONE exact time of life that this shift transpired but more likely an evolution of many moments, opportunities, and much enlightenment that took place.

What I do know with all certainty…

once WE value and honor that which makes us uniquely and outstandingly us…

crumbs given by another…

will no longer be accepted when we have prepared our life for a feast
